Finding the best Nags Head rental experience:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the best rental home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Nags Head attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Nags Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • To start, have your group decide on date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Private Pool, Hot Tub
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific Nags Head beach you simply love, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. message the host immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
