Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation property experience:

When to reserve a Nags Head rental & When to go:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Nags Head area. To get the best value, try changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitor guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose and book the perfectrental:

  • To start, have your group select dates and a budget.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
