Tips and Tricks for getting the best Nags Head rental experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best value, change your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose and book the rightrental:
- Start by having your group select date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. New! Ocean Breeze - Oceanfront 8 BR in Outer Banks has 8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Call the property manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
