Strategies to get the perfect Nags Head vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Book your vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Nags Head area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectvacation home:
- Start by having your family select dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. DL403 Tranquility Shore by First Flight Rentals has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is optimal for your trip.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Advice for a terrific stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many difficulties.
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Call the host right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
