Tricks and tips to get the best Nags Head vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Nags Head rental home:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Nags Head. To get the best rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Nags Head restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose vacation week and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. A Wave From It All: Oceanfront Condo, Shared Pool has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a certain Nags Head beach you are enamored with, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Upon check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many issues.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
